Welcome
Welcome to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Early
Childhood
Sector Advisory Group Inc. (ATSIECSAG)
CORE WORK
The New South Wales Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Early Childhood Sector Advisory Group Incorporated (ATSIECSAG Inc.) sponsors the Aboriginal Early Childhood Services Support Unit (AECSSU). The AECSSU is currently funded by the Department of Education, Science & Training (DEST), to work with a number of early childhood services, specifically those funded by DEST around the State.
AECSSU also has one off projects to develop resources on culturally appropriate programs and training information.
Since its inception the ATSIECSAG Inc. has developed a professional profile with Government funding bodies and other agencies on matters relating to early childhood issues in relation to Indigenous children.
The AECSSU employs one Executive Officer, one Administration Officer and one part time Project Officer.
The AECSSU has an aim in common with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children's services, to promote the educational development of the children through provision of high quality early childhood programs. Programs must be culturally relevant to the children and enhance their self-esteem through the reinforcement of their cultural heritages. Services support involves working with staff of the services as well as with the management committees and the communities. Support activities range from consultancy on programs and policies, the provision of training to staff committees, resourcing and problem solving within the services.
